WebSCIMS is the online version of the Serials
Check-In & Management System (SCIMS) used by the
New Delhi Library of Congress Office for managing
its serials acquisitions. It is an easy to use,
dynamically updated serials database available
through the Internet. SCIMS includes all serial
subscriptions maintained by the New Delhi Office
including current, changed, and ceased titles
from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Burma, India, Maldives,
Nepal, and Sri Lanka.
As
of March 2002, there were over 9000 records in
the database, and more are being added at the
rate of 1000 records per month. They include all
titles received in the office since December 2000,
when SCIMS was implemented, as well as many others
converted from the manual kardex file without
a receipt in hand. (The latter appear with the
note “No records as yet”, meaning no issues have
been received since SCIMS was introduced ). When
the project to convert records is complete, there
will be nearly 12,000 titles with up-to-date bibliographic
information as well as receipt information of
subscribing libraries.
Subscribing
libraries are listed under the heading 'Participant'.
The Legend at the bottom of the search bar is
a key to the holding libraries. For more information
on the holding libraries’ collections and links
to their catalogs see Holding
Libraries.
The
New Delhi Office offers new subscriptions through
regular circulars sent by e-mail. An archive of
the circulars is available at Circulars.
In addition, we regularly inform participants
of changes in the status of journals through our
Serials
Updates providing information on ceased titles,
title changes, and periodicity.
